With Power BI Desktop, you can now access SAP HANA databases. To use SAP HANA, you must have the SAP HANA ODBC driver installed on the local client computer for the Power BI Desktop's SAP HANA data connection to work properly. You can download the SAP HANA Client tools from SAP Development Tools, which contains the necessary ODBC driver. Or you can get it from the SAP Software Download Center. In the Software portal, search for the SAP HANA CLIENT for Windows computers. Since the SAP Software Download Center changes its structure frequently, more specific guidance for navigating that site isn't available.
To connect to a SAP HANA database, select Get Data, choose Database > SAP HANA Database, and then select Connect:
When you connect to a SAP HANA database, specify the server name. Then from the dropdown and input box, specify the port.
In this release, SAP HANA in DirectQuery mode is supported in Power BI Desktop and the Power BI service. You can publish and upload reports that use SAP HANA in DirectQuery mode to the Power BI service. You can also publish and upload reports to the Power BI Service when not using SAP HANA in DirectQuery mode.
Mar 26, 2016 This video describes how to graph the efficient frontier in Excel. Note that this graph was created with just two assets in the portfolio. The efficient frontier can be created using multiple assets. This frontier represents all the feasible portfolio combinations that one can create. There is also a minimum variance portfolio (MVP) for which there is minimum risk. Graphing efficient frontier in excel.
Supported features for SAP HANA

After reading your blog I was wondering what SAPCAR version you were using on AIX. I saw in the blog when uncarring the file on windows you use 46D SAPCAR version however you can use a brand new version of SAPCAR to decompress old SAP or CAR files so using a newer release version SAPCAR could have solved your issue on the AIX platform. The CData ODBC driver for SAP uses the standard ODBC interface to link SAP data with applications like Microsoft Access and Excel. Follow the steps below to use Microsoft Query to import SAP data into a spreadsheet and provide values to a parameterized query from cells in a spreadsheet. The SAP GUI has a macro recording tool much like Excel does. It records macros in VBScript which is nearly identical to Excel VBA and can usually be copied and pasted into an Excel macro directly. Example Code. Here is a simple example based on a SAP system I have access to.
This release has many capabilities for SAP HANA, as shown in the following list:
Sap Sapcar Excel Template
The Power BI connector for SAP HANA uses the SAP ODBC driver to provide the best user experience.
SAP HANA supports both DirectQuery and Import options.
Power BI supports HANA information models, such as Analytic and Calculation Views, and has optimized navigation.
With SAP HANA, you can also use the direct SQL feature to connect to Row and Column Tables.
Power BI includes Optimized Navigation for HANA Models.
Power BI supports SAP HANA Variables and Input parameters.
Power BI supports HDI-container-based Calculation Views.
Support for HDI-container-based Calculation Views is in public preview in the August 2019 release of Power BI Desktop. To access your HDI-container-based Calculation Views in Power BI, ensure that the HANA database users you use with Power BI have permission to access the HDI runtime container that stores the views you want to access. To grant this access, create a Role that allows access to your HDI container. Then assign the role to the HANA database user you'll use with Power BI. (This user must also have permission to read from the system tables in the _SYS_BI schema, as usual.) Consult the official SAP documentation for detailed instructions on how to create and assign database roles. This SAP blog post may be a good place to start.
There are currently some limitations for HANA variables attached to HDI-based Calculation Views. These limitations are because of errors on the HANA side.
First, it isn't possible to apply a HANA variable to a shared column of an HDI-container-based Calculation View. To fix this limitation, upgrade to HANA 2 version 37.02 and onwards or to HANA 2 version 42 and onwards. Second, multi-entry default values for variables and parameters currently don't show up in the Power BI UI. An error in SAP HANA causes this limitation, but SAP hasn't announced a fix yet.
Limitations of SAP HANA
There are also a few limitations to using SAP HANA, shown below:
NVARCHAR strings are truncated to a maximum length of 4000 Unicode characters.
SMALLDECIMAL isn't supported.
VARBINARY isn't supported.
Valid Dates are between 1899/12/30 and 9999/12/31.
SAP HANA refresh with SSO is currently not supported for Excel workbook refreshes at the current time. To refresh the data in Power BI, you can use a Power BI report with SAP HANA SSO.

Purpose
The purpose of this is to show you how to download, decompress, install NW RFC SDK, and set enverioment variable step by step. Overview
As of kernel 720 rfcexec.exe and startrfc.exe are no longer delivered together with kernel, however you want to use any of these programs. According to SAP Note 1581595, you plan to install NW RFC SDK on the server where SAP system is running.
Session 1: Download NW RFC SDK.
1) Check the OS version of SAP system. so that you know which OS version should be selected later when downloading NW RFC SDK. E.g. the OS version of ABD system is Windows NT X86_64, so we need to select “Windows on X64 64bit” in the next two screen.
2) Download NW RFC SDK. The installation files for the SAP NW RFC SDK are available on the SAP Service Marketplace: http://www.service.sap.com/~form/handler?_APP=00200682500000001943&_EVENT=DISPHIER&HEADER=N&FUNCTIONBAR=N&EVENT=TREE&TMPL =01200314690200010197&V=MAINT
Click on Windows on X64 64bit
Tick the check box and click on “Add to Download Basket”

Click on “Download Basket”.
NetWeaver RFC Library installation file NWRFC_12-20004568.SAR appear in your download basket
.
Click on “NetWeaver RFC library”, below popup will appear, click on “Save” button to save the file to any directory of your local PC or SAP server PC. In this example, I save it to my local PC directory C:Download.
Downloading…
Successfully downloaded.
Session 2: Decompress the NWRFC_12_20004568.SAR file by using SAPCAR.exe.
1) Put NWRFC_12_20004568.SAR and SAPCAR.exe into same directory
.
2) use cmd to go into command prompt screen. 3) use cd <directory where NWRFC_11_20004568.SAR and SAPCAR.exe are located> to goto that directory.
4) use SAPCAR.exe --xvf <NW RFC SDK file name> to decompress the NW RFC SDK into same folder.
Folder nwrfcsdk contains NW RFC SDK files. Fil !15.png|border=1,width=600,height=292!e SIGNATURE.SMF can be ignored.
Session 3: Install NW RFC SDK on the SAP server where it is needed To do this, just need to copy nwrfcsdk folder to any of directory of SAP server on OS level. e.g. In this example, I copy it to ABD system D:usrsapABDDVEBMGS00exe Basiclly NW RFC SDK can be installed to any directory of a host where SAP server is running, according to SAP Note 1581595, In the SAP system (application server). Some values that maybe used in practice are: /usr/sap/<sid>/SYS/exe/run /usr/sap/<sid>/DVEBMGS00/exe /usr/sap/<sid>/DVEBMGS00/work /usr/sap/<sid>/D00/work /home/sidadm (where 'sidadm' is the operating system user under which the SAP system is running.)
Session 4: Set environment variable for NW RFC SDK This example is for the case that the OS of SAP system where NW RFC SDK is installed is Windows. Logon to the OS level where SAP system is running, right click on “My computer”, click on “Properties” Click on “Advanced system settings”, click on “Advanced” tab, click on “Environment variables” button. Under “System variables”, select “Path”, click on “Edit” button.
